Kingsville Fitness Complex
Completing this 28,000 sq. ft. fitness center and adjoining sports complex gave the community a place for recreation. Indoors, users enjoy access to fitness equipment, basketball/volleyball and racquetball courts, group exercise rooms, and locker room facilities, while administration takes place in nearby offices and reception areas. Outdoors, the 25-meter swimming pool, 400-meter track, and synthetic turf football field offer plenty to do.
This facility is LEED Gold certified. The project incorporated renewable energy features, like an environmentally-friendly and reliable solar electric system, to alleviate the dependability on fossil-fuel based energy. More than 1,300 210W solar photovoltaic panels were installed atop parking structure roofs. Ross Group additionally installed Solatubes, which are tubular daylighting devices that feature a domed prism exterior on the facility’s roof and a reflective interior that directs light downward into the physical training and fitness areas. The tubes allow consistent natural lighting within the facility, while providing low solar heat gain and reducing electrical costs. Other features that contribute to the project’s LEED Gold Certification include use of materials made with recycled content and energy efficient lighting and water fixtures. Ross Group provided enhanced commissioning for the project.
